“I’d have given a million for a drink. I was a bit shaken. Not stirred, just shaken.”

John Wildey

On October 8, 2013, John Wildey found himself alone, in a fight for his life, in the skies above North Lincolnshire, England.

He had been invited by a pilot friend to spend the day taking in the landscape on a quick trip to the east coast of England.

But when his friend had a heart attack on the way back, John, a 77 year old retired great-grandfather, had to summon the courage and will to somehow make it to the ground alive.

This is the harrowing story of how John landed the small Cessna airplane at an international airport with the help of a team of professionals both on the ground and in the air.
